Brewmaster Monk is the top tank. If a theoretical S-tier from a sim website can&#8217;t survive Pit of Saron at +12 in a pug, we don&#8217;t care that the sim said it was strong.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The patch 12.0.5 tuning pass.<\/strong> Blizzard&#8217;s first balance patch hit on the way to Voidspire and it moved a lot of specs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icy-veins.com\/wow\/midnight-1205-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Icy Veins&#8217; 12.0.5 patch breakdown<\/a> covers the per-spec change list; we&#8217;ve baked the post-patch state into the ratings below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The raid-vs-Mythic+ split.<\/strong> The gap between what&#8217;s strong in a raid boss fight and what&#8217;s strong in a +12 dungeon is the widest it&#8217;s been since Battle for Azeroth. Demonology Warlock got the biggest single buff in 12.0.5 (Hand of Gul&#8217;dan with a 15% chance to summon a Greater Void Warden) and is now the front-loaded AoE king. Devourer Demon Hunter, the brand-new Midnight spec, was tuned up across early Season 1 and now sits comfortably in the meta. Augmentation Evoker is its own thing &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t out-damage anyone, it just makes the other two damage-dealers in your group 15-20% better. It&#8217;s S-tier because no group at +12+ runs without one (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CompetitiveWoW\/comments\/1d8usva\/the_mythic_plus_manifesto_from_the_perspective_of\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the r\/CompetitiveWoW thread<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Marksmanship Hunter looks low.<\/strong> MM is A or S in raid, but only B in Mythic+. The spec&#8217;s identity is single-target burst, which the current Midnight dungeon pool doesn&#8217;t really reward &#8211; most timed pulls are 6-12 mob trash packs, not boss execute windows. If you&#8217;re an MM main and you got A in your raid logs and B in your M+ logs, that&#8217;s not a tuning bug, that&#8217;s the dungeon pool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Arms Warrior is C.<\/strong> The Slayer Hero Talent tree rework made Arms a raid menace, but Mythic+ punishes Arms&#8217; wind-up time and slow target swaps. Demonology Warlock drops from M+ S-tier to raid B-tier; Marksmanship Hunter rises from M+ B-tier to raid S-tier. That&#8217;s not a balancing failure &#8211; the two formats just reward different things. Raid is long-target-fight precision; M+ is route-clear pace. The specs that win one format don&#8217;t necessarily win the other.<\/p>\n<p>For the final Voidspire fight (Crown of the Cosmos vs Alleria Windrunner, multi-stage), the raid logs cluster around Survival Hunter, Marksmanship Hunter, and the Aug Evoker buff-train. Two things sealed it: the Vital Flame self-heal scaling on the Refreshing Drink talent makes large pulls into self-sustain, and the Stagger interaction with Xal&#8217;atath&#8217;s Bargain affixes (specifically Voidbound) lets Brewmasters absorb the magical damage that would shred other tanks. If you&#8217;re rerolling a tank, Brewmaster is the safest pick this season.<\/p>\n<p>Protection Paladin is S-tier on some other tier lists because Word of Glory and Blessing of Sacrifice make it the cleanest raid tank for healer-light comps. We&#8217;ve kept it A-tier overall because in Mythic+, the active mitigation pacing is more demanding than Brew&#8217;s Stagger and gets exposed at +13+. Both are completely viable for KSM.<\/p>\n<p>Blood Death Knight is the most-asked-about tank in our customer DMs &#8211; and unfortunately, this isn&#8217;t its season. Death Strike scaling is a fraction of where it was in TWW S3, and Blood eats more damage than it self-heals on the current dungeon pool&#8217;s mechanical layer. Restoration Druid blankets the group in proactive HoT effects, which is what M+ wants &#8211; constant ticking damage, unpredictable mob casts, the occasional one-shot you have to prefill against. Discipline Priest waits for damage spikes and uses Atonement to convert offensive output into healing, which is what raid wants &#8211; predictable damage profile windows, multi-target burst phases.<\/p>\n<p>Restoration Shaman shares the M+ S-tier because Healing Tide Totem and the Cloudburst Totem interaction handle the burst windows Druid can&#8217;t pre-empt. Three patches ago Outlaw Rogue was the M+ ceiling; now it&#8217;s C-tier despite buffs landing on it in 12.0.5. <a href=\"https:\/\/boostingmarket.com\/blogs\/marvel-rivals-ranks-explained\/\">Marvel Rivals&#8217; role tier shake-ups<\/a> swing the same way every season &#8211; the spec at the top of the patch&#8217;s first balance pass is rarely the spec at the top of the patch&#8217;s third one. Devourer DH brings melee survivability that solves Pit of Saron&#8217;s tight corridors. Frost Mage brings Ice Lance burst that solves Algeth&#8217;ar Academy&#8217;s add waves. The &#8220;flex pick&#8221; is the spec your boost team actually plays well on &#8211; a well-played A-tier spec beats a poorly-played S-tier spec every single key.<\/p>\n<p>If your group&#8217;s missing a slot or two and the PUG tool isn&#8217;t accepting you, that&#8217;s our entire job. Most of your meters look small. Most of your buttons feed your teammates. If you want to top damage logs every fight, this is not your spec, even though it&#8217;s S-tier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brewmaster Monk has a steep button-stack.<\/strong> Stagger, Celestial Brew, Purifying Brew, Black Ox Brew, Refreshing Drink &#8211; the active mitigation toolkit is wider than any other tank.
