Vivo Keyd Competitive Rulling drama | Valorant Champions Tour delayed games
Yesterday Brazil got its first ever win against Eu/NA competition and fans around the country celebrated a lot. Unfortunately that win was ripped off from them after some controversy and a competitive ruling. Brazil was still celebrating when hours after the end of the match Riot ruled that Vivo Keyd Jonathan “JhoW” Glória used an outrageous exploit with the Cypher camera. This was used during the map and the Brazilian player abused it like a boss. This camera has become quite famous in Valorant boosting for a reason and although it’s illegal in esports it's totally fine in competitive (Rank) matches. You can use it for yourself. Riot decided that due to this exploit that Jonathan “JhoW” Glória used instead of the fantastic win over Acend for 13-8 they should be deducted six rounds in which JhoW used the exploit and an additional round to compensate for the economy loss giving virtually the win to Acend. Consider that all of this was after a Map 3 decider match, the whole thing make brazilian fans go crazy and mad making the hashtag “Justiceforkeyd” trend worldwide ( Really it became the most used hashtag in the world on twitter for a while! )
The full competitive ruling can be seen here:
"During map three of the match between Acend and Vivo Keyd, Jonathan “JhoW” Glória from Vivo Keyd violated Rule 7.2.6 of the Valorant Global Competition Policy by using a Cypher camera placement that is not functioning as intended and violates the design purpose of Valorant. JhoW used the Cypher camera exploit on six (6) rounds of the match.
The six (6) rounds where the camera exploit was used will be forfeited by Team Vivo Keyd and granted to Team Acend, resulting in an adjusted score of Acend 12, Vivo Keyd 9. To account for the economic impact of the six (6) forfeited rounds on the subsequent rounds in the map, Acend will be additionally awarded one (1) round.
Therefore, the adjusted final score of map three is: Acend 13, Vivo Keyd 9."
Competitive ruling backpadle and most recent news
After all the drama the Brazilian team complained and said it was outrageous the international community supported them heavily so Riot now has a new version where they admit to reviewing the decision. The video game company tweeted the following:
“Upon further deliberation, matches in Group A will be delayed to provide additional time to review the ruling against Vivo Keyd. Today’s matches will feature Team Vikings vs Gambit and Team Liquid vs Sentinels. Broadcast will begin 1 hour later than initially scheduled.”
What's next in the Valorant Champions tour?
Both sides are now awaiting a decision from Riot. The situation is very delicate and remember that this is the first iteration of a “Worlds” for Valorant Riot has organized this type of events for League of Legends but for Valorant it’s the first time they are running an event of this magnitude I really don’t know how this is going to end but I have faith the Brazilian team will be compensated for their valiant win against an European team something that would be historic was turned into a dark mess!
