The top lane tier list for patch 26.19 has a clear shape: tanks and stat-check bruisers own the lane, and the flashy picks you see on highlight reels sit lower than their popularity says. Malphite, Shen, Ornn, Garen and Sett make up our S tier. All five win more than half their games at Emerald+ and all five can go in blind without auto-losing lane. Our numbers come from op.gg’s Emerald+ Ranked Solo/Duo data on patch 26.19, last checked 28 September 2026, and Riot does not publish official win rates, so every figure here is third-party match sampling.
This page is the patch version, and it gets rebuilt every time Riot ships a new one. If you want the evergreen version (the top laners that climb no matter what the patch notes say), that lives in our best top laners to climb guide. Here you get the full S-to-D table, why each S-tier pick is there, which picks are safe blind, how the best pick changes from Iron to Diamond+, and what moved since 26.18.
Patch 26.19 context: what changed for top lane
Patch 26.19 went live on 22 September 2026, and it was a good patch to be a top laner. Riot’s official patch 26.19 notes cut the Top Lane Role Quest’s free Teleport cooldown from 420 to 390 seconds, and Unleashed Teleport now runs 300-210 seconds instead of 330-240. It sounds small, but 30 seconds is often the gap between having Teleport for the next drake fight and watching it on a timer.
Champion-wise, the lane got three direct buffs, two nerfs and one adjustment:
- Aatrox (buff): W cooldown 20/18/16/14/12 to 18/16.5/15/13.5/12 seconds, and his healing ratio went from 1.1% to 1.3% per 100 bonus health.
- Fiora (buff): health growth 99 to 105, and Grand Challenge heals for more (max 400/525/650, up from 375/500/625).
- Volibear (adjustment): passive attack speed now scales with AP, and his lightning picks up a bonus AD ratio.
- Nasus (nerf): Siphoning Strike bonus damage 40/60/80/100/120 down to 30/50/70/90/110.
- Rumble (nerf): overheat attack speed dropped from 50-130% to 30-100%.
How we built the list: we started from op.gg’s top lane champion stats, using the Emerald+ sample for patch 26.19 (about 919,000 ranked games when we pulled it) and set every champion’s win rate, pick rate and ban rate against the same numbers from 26.18. Then we applied our own judgment on top. Wherever we disagree with the raw numbers, the table and the counter-argument section say so.
LoL top lane tier list: the patch 26.19 master table
Win rate and pick rate come from op.gg’s Emerald+ Ranked Solo/Duo data for the top lane role on patch 26.19, last checked 28 September 2026. The average top laner sits right around 50%, so a champion at 51.5% is winning meaningfully more than the lane, and anything under 48% is a real hole.

| D | Vayne | 47.08% | 1.60% | Counter-pick meme that mostly loses |
Two placements go against the raw data, so here is why. Yone is op.gg’s number two top laner on its composite tier score, mostly because of pick and ban volume. We have him in B because 8.52% of the lane is playing a champion that wins 49.89%, and that makes him popular more than strong. Quinn has the highest win rate on the board at 52.28%, but on under 1% pick rate that number comes mostly from Quinn specialists picking her into matchups they know. Put her in the hands of a random top laner and she drops like a stone.
The S-tier top laners, one by one
Five picks made it to S, and four of them are tanks or close to it. All five forgive a bad lane, and none of them need a big lead to matter.
Malphite
Malphite is the best top laner of the patch because nothing else wins this much while being played this much. He posts 51.39% on a 6.99% pick rate at Emerald+ and holds 51.17% even in Diamond+, where most easy picks fall apart. Unstoppable Force is still the most reliable engage in the game, and against an all-AD team he turns lane into a nap. His problem matchups are AP and true-damage tops: op.gg’s Emerald+ sample has him at 42.5% over 419 games into Singed, and mages like Swain push him out of lane. Skip him if you hate waiting, because you will spend some games farming under tower at 0/0 until your one teamfight ult wins the game.
Shen
Shen is the champion the Teleport buff was made for. He already had a global ult, and now the free Teleport comes back 30 seconds sooner, so he can show up at two fights across the map in the time other top laners manage one. That map pressure is why he wins 51.54% at Emerald+ and 51.36% at Diamond+. Sustained-damage bruisers give him trouble, and so does anyone who punishes him for leaving lane; Warwick is one of his worst common matchups. If you never look at the minimap, pick something else. A Shen who never presses R is a weaker Garen.
Ornn
Ornn is the most blind-safe tank in the lane and posts the best win rate in Platinum and Emerald, 52.12%. He is very hard to kill before level 6, he scales into a front line that upgrades your whole team’s items, and his late game teamfighting is excellent. Warwick and Poppy beat him in small samples, and so does anyone who can shove him in and roam before he gets going. Players who want to carry by killing people will find him boring: Ornn’s job is to be standing in every fight with a knock-up ready.
Garen
Garen is the top laner who changes least between brackets and the one we would hand to anyone who just wants to climb. He wins 51.98% in Iron to Gold, 51.58% in Platinum and Emerald, and only dips to 49.99% in Diamond+, where players stop walking into his Q. No mana, a built-in heal and an execute. Nothing about him breaks when you are tired. Warwick (43.5% over 363 Emerald+ games) and ranged tops who kite him out of lane are the matchups to dodge. Diamond+ players looking for an edge should look elsewhere, since up there he is solid and little more.
Sett
Sett wins by fighting, and in a lane full of melee champions, that is enough. He posts 50.68% at Emerald+ on a 5.71% pick rate, and his Haymaker makes the late-game front line fight a losing trade for most bruisers. His problem is rank sensitivity: 51.79% in Iron to Gold, 49.55% in Diamond+. Malphite is the counter to respect (45.3% over 1,351 Emerald+ games, the most reliable counter on this list), with Warwick close behind. Sett is an S-tier pick for everyone below Diamond and a C-tier pick above it.
Blind-pickable vs counter-pick only
Knowing a champion’s tier is only useful if you also know whether you can lock it first. Top is the most matchup-dependent lane in the game, and a champion that is A tier as a counter-pick can be D tier when you lock it first. Our guide to the safest blind picks in every role covers the theory; this is the patch 26.19 version for top lane. Worst-matchup figures are op.gg Emerald+ data, and we only list matchups with a few hundred games or more.
| Champion | Tier | Pick it | Worst common matchup (Emerald+) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malphite | S | Blind safe | Singed, 42.5% over 419 games |
| Shen | S | Blind safe | Warwick, small sample |
| Ornn | S | Blind safe | Warwick, Poppy, small samples |
| Garen | S | Blind safe | Warwick, 43.5% over 363 games |
| Sett | S | Blind safe | Malphite, 45.3% over 1,351 games |
| Urgot | A | Blind safe | Ranged tops who deny his shotgun knees |
| Gangplank | A | Blind, if you know him | All-in melee before he has items |
| Teemo | A | Counter-pick only | Akali, 43.8% over 536 games |
| Kayle | A | Counter-pick only | Any early bully who can kill her before 6 |
| Fiora | A | Counter-pick only | Heimerdinger, 42.9% over 231 games |
| Camille | A | Counter-pick only | Ranged tops and hard-CC tanks |
| Warwick | A | Counter-pick only | Ranged tops who keep him off the heal |
| Yone | B | Counter-pick lean | Kled 44.9% (501 games), Vladimir 44.9% (494) |
| Aatrox | B | Blind, but it costs you | Malphite 44.5% (1,664 games), Fiora 45.6% (1,462) |
| Quinn | B | Counter-pick only | Irelia and Malphite, both near 41% in small samples |
Look at the right-hand column and one name keeps coming up: Warwick. He is in the worst three matchups for Garen, Sett, Shen, Ornn and Yone in op.gg’s Emerald+ data, and he wins 51.97% top on a 1.44% pick rate. That makes Warwick the sleeper counter-pick of the patch. Blind him into a ranged top and you have a bad time, but when the enemy top laner locks in a melee S-tier champion first, he is the answer. For the full matchup logic lane by lane, see our counter-pick guide by lane.
Best top laner by rank bracket
What wins in Iron does not win in Diamond, and top lane is where the gap is widest. We pulled the same patch 26.19 op.gg data split into three brackets: Iron to Gold (3.4 million top-lane picks), Platinum to Emerald (2.3 million) and Diamond+ (704,000). Only champions with at least 0.8% of the lane’s picks in that bracket count, so a 12-game one-trick cannot top the chart.
| Iron to Gold | Platinum to Emerald | Diamond+ | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highest win rate | Singed 52.48% | Ornn 52.12% | Kled 51.83% |
| Second | Teemo 52.24% | Singed 51.84% | Singed 51.49% |
| Third | Illaoi 52.05% | Shen 51.78% | Gragas 51.47% |
| Best popular pick (4%+ of the lane) | Garen 51.98% | Malphite 51.69% | Malphite 51.17% |
| Worst pick | K’Sante 44.95% | K’Sante 46.32% | Vayne 47.44% |
| Gets better as you climb | Camille 47.98% | Camille 50.26% | Camille 50.85% |
| Gets worse as you climb | Sett 51.79% | Sett 51.47% | Sett 49.55% |
The practical read: below Platinum, pick the champion that is hard to play badly (Garen, Sett, Teemo, Malphite) and you are already ahead of most of the lobby. From Diamond up, the lane rewards champions with a real skill ceiling. Camille is almost three points better in Diamond+ than in Iron to Gold, and Riven swings from 46.37% to 50.31%. Singed is the only top laner in the top three of all three brackets. His pick rate never tops about 1.3%, though, which tells you he mostly wins for the people who have played him 300 times.
Our boosters see exactly this on orders. The fastest Platinum-to-Emerald top-lane climb we ran last split was done on two champions, Malphite and Garen, and the booster said afterward that the plan was just to never lose lane and show up to every drake. If you would rather skip the grind through the busiest part of the ladder, our League of Legends division boost team plays top at Master and above every day and can take the climb off your hands.
Rising and falling vs patch 26.18
The biggest mover is exactly who the patch notes predicted, but a couple of champions moved with no buff at all. Both columns are op.gg Emerald+ top lane data, 26.18 against 26.19, last checked 28 September 2026.
| Champion | 26.18 win rate | 26.19 win rate | Pick rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fiora | 49.41% | 50.30% | 3.79% to 4.68% | Health growth and R healing buff, rank 32 to 13 |
| Volibear | 48.44% | 49.48% | 2.96% to 3.95% | New AP and AD scaling, back into the game |
| Sion | 49.19% | 50.13% | 2.93% to 2.95% | No direct change, benefits from the faster Teleport |
| Aatrox | 49.40% | 49.88% | 5.91% to 6.66% | W and healing buff, rank 19 to 10 |
| Gragas | 50.23% | 50.96% | 2.41% to 2.50% | No change, still went up |
| Nasus | 51.34% | 50.28% | 6.83% to 5.53% | Q nerf, dropped from op.gg’s number one |
| Rumble | 48.18% | 47.68% | 1.74% to 1.51% | Overheat nerf, now D tier |
| Ryze (top) | 48.63% | 47.98% | 0.77% to 0.61% | Q and mana nerfs |
| Darius | 49.74% | 49.47% | 6.74% to 6.29% | No change, slow slide |
Nasus is the interesting one. He lost a full point and his pick rate fell almost 20%, but he is still at 50.28% and is still banned in 27.74% of Emerald+ games, the highest ban rate of any top laner. People have not stopped hating him. They have just stopped winning quite as much with him. One oddity for the record: Poppy was nerfed this patch and her top win rate went up, from 50.86% to 51.37%. The nerf only touched a damage cap on her Q, and a 9,000-game sample is too small to call either way.
Where this tier list is wrong
Every tier list is wrong somewhere. Ours has three weak spots we know about.
First, the sample is young. Our 26.19 pull covers about six days of the patch. The 26.18 comparison covers the whole patch, more than two million games. Early-patch numbers favour whatever people already knew how to play, and buffed champions usually gain another half point once players learn them. Fiora and Aatrox are probably better than their 26.19 numbers say.
Second, trackers disagree. Lolalytics’ Emerald+ top lane list for the same patch puts Yone in S+ and has Gangplank at 52.53%, because its bracket average runs hotter (51.65%) and it weights pick rate differently. Both are reasonable reads of different samples, and Riot publishes no official figure to settle it. Treat the order of the list as more reliable than the decimals.
Third, win rate measures games won, and top mains care about lanes won. The community lists in threads like this r/topmains current-patch tier list rank champions on how the 1v1 plays out, and on that measure Fiora, Camille and Irelia belong well above Garen and Malphite. That is a fair way to judge the lane, but it measures something else. A tank who goes even and wins the 5v5 shows up at 51.5% in the data, and a duelist who wins lane and throws the game shows up at 49%.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the best top laner in patch 26.19?
Malphite. He wins 51.39% at Emerald+ on a 6.99% pick rate in our read of op.gg data, last checked 28 September 2026, which is the best mix of win rate and popularity in the lane. Shen edges him on win rate (51.54%) on about half the pick rate.
What top laner has the highest win rate right now?
Quinn at 52.28% in Emerald+, but on a 0.86% pick rate she is mostly played by specialists. Among champions with a real pick rate, Warwick (51.97%), Singed (51.56%) and Shen (51.54%) lead the lane.
Is Nasus still good after the 26.19 nerf?
Yes, just less so. He went from 51.34% to 50.28% at Emerald+ and dropped from op.gg’s top spot to seventh, but he is still an A-tier pick and still the most banned top laner at 27.74%.
What is the best top laner for low elo?
Garen is the safest pick below Platinum, at 51.98% in Iron to Gold on a 4.6% share of the lane. Singed, Teemo and Illaoi all win more in that bracket, but they are harder to pick up from scratch.
Who is the best blind pick top laner?
Malphite, Shen, Ornn, Garen and Sett, the whole S tier. None of them drops much below 42% in any common Emerald+ matchup, and all five still do their job in a losing lane.
How often does the top lane tier list change?
Every patch, which is every two weeks. Patch 26.20, the Worlds patch, is scheduled for early October, so check the patch label on any tier list before you trust it.
So for patch 26.19: tanks and stat-checkers on top, Warwick as the hidden counter, Fiora and Aatrox on the way up, Nasus a little lower than last patch. Pick from the S tier if you blind, reach for Warwick or Teemo when you have last pick, and check the rank table before you copy a Diamond player’s champion pool. And if you would rather have someone else play the lane for you, our League of Legends boost covers division climbs, placements and duo queue, played by boosters who main top at Master and above.
