The Overwatch tier list for the current season has one hero sitting above everyone else: D.Mon. Two nerfs in September and she is still winning 56% of her Diamond games, 58% in Grandmaster, and getting banned in more than half of all Grandmaster matches. Behind her, Vendetta and Pharah lead Damage, and Support is the flattest role in the game, with Jetpack Cat, Brigitte and Zenyatta on top mostly because they win everywhere and nobody can reliably shut them down. Every placement below starts from Blizzard’s own competitive numbers, and you will leave with a Tank, Damage and Support ranking, the best pick for your rank bracket, and what is about to change.

We play competitive Overwatch every day on client accounts, from Bronze placements to Grandmaster, so this list mixes the win rates with what actually holds up in real lobbies. If you want the ladder itself explained first, our guide to how the Bronze to Champion ladder works is the companion piece.

Current patch context and how we built this list

This list covers Season 4: Heroes of Busan, after the September 8 mid-season patch and the September 17 D.Mon hotfix (last checked September 2026). Season 4 launched on August 11 with D.Mon, the Emerald rank and reworks to Busan, Paraíso and Eichenwalde. The mid-season patch then touched heroes in all three roles, including nerfs to Kiriko, Freja, Mauga and Brigitte’s health pool, and buffs to Baptiste’s Immortality Field and D.Va’s mech health. If you are searching for an OW2 tier list, this is the same game: Blizzard dropped the 2 from the name in February when the Reign of Talon year started. Every change is on the official Overwatch patch notes.

The numbers come from Blizzard’s official hero statistics page, filtered to Competitive Role Queue, PC, Americas, all maps. Blizzard says the page pulls from the start of the most recent patch, so these are post-hotfix numbers. Our primary bracket is Diamond, because it is the most useful middle ground: high enough that heroes are played properly, big enough that the sample is not noise. We cross-checked every placement against Gold, Platinum, Master and Grandmaster, and we call out every spot where we deviate from the raw win rate and why.

Three rules for reading it. First, a hero’s win rate only counts games where the hero was actually played, so a hero banned in half of all matches is being judged on the half where the enemy chose not to ban it. Second, pick rate is a share of playtime, so a 43.8% Ana pick rate in Diamond means Ana is on the field in a huge share of Diamond games. Third, perks matter: every hero’s minor and major perk picks mid-match change their power curve, and some heroes (D.Mon’s major perk gun is the famous one) live or die on them.

Tank tier list

Tank has the widest gap between best and worst of the three roles. D.Mon sits more than 3 points clear of the next hero in Diamond, while the bottom four are under 47%. Win rate and pick rate are Diamond; the Grandmaster column shows where the hero ends up at the top of the ladder.

Where we deviate: Doomfist’s raw Diamond number is B, but he is the most-played Tank in Diamond at 11.2% and his win rate in Gold (53.0%) and Platinum (52.4%) is A-tier. If you are below Diamond and already comfortable on him, he is better than this row says. Mauga goes in D despite a Diamond win rate slightly above Orisa’s because the September 8 armor cut to 125 showed up everywhere: 44.4% in Grandmaster, the lowest Tank number on the page.

D.Mon: why she is S

D.Mon is the rare new hero who launched weak, got emergency buffs, and then ran away with the season. The September 17 hotfix cut her armor from 325 to 275 in 5v5, dropped Focused Fusion from 45 to 36 damage per bullet and put Fusion Repeater on a 5-second cooldown, and she still posts 56.3% in Diamond and 58.2% in Grandmaster. The mix of a mech phase and a pilot phase gives her two health bars’ worth of space every fight, and Call Mech now transforms in 0.95 seconds instead of 1.95, so the window to punish the swap is tiny. The r/Competitiveoverwatch thread on her turnaround is a good read on how fast the community went from “worst tank in the game” to “ban her every match”.

To counter her, burst the pilot phase with sustained beams (Zarya, Symmetra), bring anti-heal, or just ban her, which 44% of Diamond lobbies and 59% of Grandmaster lobbies already do. Skip her if you cannot track your own cooldowns. The Tank players we see losing on D.Mon waste the mech on poke and then get caught as the pilot with nothing up.

Damage tier list

Damage has the deepest pool, and its top belongs to heroes who choose when to take a fight: Vendetta diving, Pharah flying. Hitscan is having a rough season. Two staples, Cassidy and Sojourn, sit in D in Diamond.

Where we deviate: Tracer sits in A on a 51.2% Diamond win rate because she is the one Damage hero whose numbers climb with rank. She has a 30.1% pick rate in Grandmaster and gets banned 16% of the time. Cassidy is D in Diamond at 45.8%, the most-played Damage hero in the bracket, but a coin flip at 50.0% in Grandmaster, where players actually land their shots. If you are GM, read him as a B. Freja is the strangest row on the page: a 38% ban rate in Grandmaster on a sub-46% hero, which tells you people ban what annoys them rather than what beats them.

Vendetta: why she is S

Vendetta is the Damage hero who wins the most games below Master: 55.2% in Gold, 54.9% in Platinum, 54.4% in Diamond, on a pick rate around 5%. The mid-season patch halved Palatine Fang’s first-swing delay to 0.15 seconds and stretched the combo link window to 0.9 seconds, so her melee chains feel far less clunky, while the longer Whirlwind Dash and Sundering Blade recovery made her dive riskier. In lower brackets nobody peels properly, so the extra risk rarely costs her. Brigitte, Mei walls and anyone who can stop a committed dive give her trouble. In Grandmaster she drops to 52.6%, because up there a bad dive gets punished instantly.

Pharah: why she is S

Pharah is the Damage hero whose win rate holds steady as you climb: 54.0% in Diamond, 54.4% in Master, 53.7% in Grandmaster, on a pick rate under 4%. That low pick rate is the tell. Most lobbies do not expect her, and the two top Damage picks in Diamond by playtime (Cassidy and Tracer) are not reliable answers to a Pharah played at range with a pocket. Ashe, Soldier: 76 and Widowmaker shoot her down, and Echo can mirror her in the air. She also needs a pocket, so leave her alone if your Supports are all melee range. Pharah without a Mercy or Juno looking at her is a very expensive firework.

If you would rather skip the part where you learn which of these heroes actually suits your hands one lost match at a time, our Overwatch rank boost team runs role-based climbs through Emerald, Diamond and Master on your schedule, with the heroes above.

Support tier list

Support is the most compressed role in the game right now. The top seven heroes in Diamond are within 0.6 points of each other, between 51.3% and 51.9%, so the ranking here leans harder on consistency across brackets and on ban rates than on a single number.

Where we deviate: Wuyang and Lúcio have the best raw Diamond win rates and sit in A, because both fall to about 50.8% in Grandmaster while our S picks hold or rise. Mercy has a 51.4% Diamond number but drops to 49.3% at the top, so she lands in B. And Kiriko is D on the numbers alone: 43.6% in Diamond on a 30.9% pick rate is the single worst gap between popularity and results in the game. The September 8 cuts to Healing Ofuda speed and Protection Suzu duration landed hard.

Jetpack Cat: why she is S

Jetpack Cat is S because the ladder treats her like S: 63.4% ban rate in Diamond, 73.9% in Master, 81.1% in Grandmaster. When she does get through, she wins 53.9% of Grandmaster games. Lifeline lets her carry a teammate across the map, and even after the mid-season patch made Lifeline break on stuns and trimmed Biotic Pawjectiles from 4.5 to 4 per projectile, she changes how fights start. Stuns and mobility locks on the carried target break her plays, hitscan that can track her in the air punishes her, and the ban button handles the rest. If you only have one Support hero, do not make it her: she is banned in most high-rank games, so you would spend those games on your backup anyway.

Brigitte and Zenyatta: why they are S

Brigitte is the most consistent Support on the ladder: 51.5% in Diamond, 52.9% in Master, 51.5% in Grandmaster, and almost never banned. The mid-season swap of 25 health for 25 armor (200 health down to 175, armor 50 up to 75) made her better against the spammy damage that dominates Diamond. Zenyatta is the other side of the coin: the best Support in Gold (52.5%) and Platinum (52.2%) and still 51.7% in Diamond, because Discord Orb turns every Damage player’s aim into kills. The September 8 line-of-sight change to Harmony Orb (5 seconds down to 3) has not pushed her out of the top three Supports in Gold, Platinum or Diamond. Ranged poke and Pharah beat Brigitte, and any competent dive beats Zenyatta. Brigitte is wasted on players who want to heal from the backline, and Zenyatta punishes anyone who forgets to check behind them.

Best pick by rank bracket

A single tier list hides how much the meta shifts between Gold and Grandmaster. Here is the highest win rate hero per role in each bracket, from the same Blizzard data (Competitive Role Queue, PC, Americas, last checked September 2026), counting only heroes with at least a 2% pick rate.

BracketTankDamageSupportMost banned hero
GoldD.Mon 55.2% (Reinhardt 53.7%)Vendetta 55.2%Zenyatta 52.5%Zarya 54.7%

GrandmasterD.Mon 58.2% (Hazard 53.2%)Pharah 53.7%Jetpack Cat 53.9% (Baptiste 52.3%)Jetpack Cat 81.1%

The Tank column shows the second-best Tank in brackets because D.Mon gets banned so often that you need a backup, and the backup changes with rank. Reinhardt is the low-rank answer, Junker Queen owns Diamond, and the top brackets move to Domina and Hazard. The ban column is its own story: Gold lobbies ban Zarya more than anything else (54.7%), a hero who wins only 47.3% of her own Gold games. That tells you low-rank bans are about frustration, and high-rank bans are about win rate. For matchup-by-matchup answers once the bans are in, our Overwatch counter-pick guide goes hero by hero.

Rising and falling after the mid-season patch

We do not have Blizzard’s pre-patch numbers side by side (the stats page resets with each patch), so this reads the direction of each change against where the hero sits now.

The one that surprised us on orders was Brigitte. Losing 25 health on paper looked like a nerf, but in practice the armor swap made her tankier into the Soldier, Sojourn and Cassidy spam that fills Diamond lobbies. The cleanest Diamond to Master climb our team logged this month was a Support player who switched from Kiriko to Brigitte after the patch and went 31 wins to 17 losses without touching any other hero.

What changes when Season 5 lands

Season 5 starts on October 6, and it will scramble part of this list. Blizzard’s BlizzCon reveals confirmed three changes that matter for rankings: Doctrine, a new Support hero, joins the roster; Sombra moves from Damage to Support in a rework; and Roadhog gets a rework of his own. A new season also usually brings a balance patch on top.

Our read on what that does: new heroes almost always land with volatile numbers in week one, so do not treat Doctrine’s first few days of win rate as gospel in either direction (D.Mon was being called the worst Tank in the game during her first days). Sombra’s move takes a C-tier hero out of Damage entirely, and Roadhog’s current C placement is meaningless once his kit changes. The heroes least likely to move are the ones whose numbers are driven by fundamentals rather than a single tuned value: Pharah, Brigitte, Zenyatta, Junker Queen. If you are reading this after October 6, check the patch label on Blizzard’s stats page before trusting any single row here.

Where this Overwatch tier list is wrong

Every tier list has blind spots, and this one has three. First, it is one region and one platform. Europe and Asia move a point or two in either direction (Symmetra is 50.5% in European Diamond against 50.2% in the Americas; Echo is 50.4% against 51.2%), and console is its own meta. Second, a win rate spread of 51.3% to 51.9% across seven Support heroes is inside the noise of a single patch, so the S versus A split in Support is a judgment call more than a measurement. Third, low pick rate heroes look better than they are. Pharah, Symmetra and Venture are played by specialists who have hundreds of hours on them. Pick Pharah cold in your placements and you are not getting the 54%.

In most roles the gap between A and B is smaller than the gap between you on your best hero and you on your fourth best, so use a tier list as a tiebreaker. If you want a shortlist built around your role rather than the whole roster, our guide to the best heroes to climb with in each role narrows it down.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best hero in Overwatch right now?

D.Mon. She has the highest win rate of any hero in every competitive bracket, from 55.2% in Gold to 58.2% in Grandmaster, even after two September nerfs. That is our read of Blizzard’s official hero statistics, Competitive Role Queue, PC, Americas, last checked September 2026.

What is the best Support in Overwatch this season?

Jetpack Cat is the strongest when she gets through bans, at 53.9% in Grandmaster, but she is banned in 63% to 81% of Diamond-and-up matches. For a hero you can actually play every game, Brigitte and Zenyatta are the safest picks, both above 51% in Diamond and almost never banned.

What is the best DPS hero in Overwatch right now?

Vendetta below Master and Pharah from Master up. Vendetta wins 54% to 55% of games from Gold through Diamond; Pharah holds 53.7% to 54.4% from Diamond through Grandmaster.

Which Overwatch heroes are the worst right now?

Kiriko (43.6% in Diamond), Mauga (45.7%), Cassidy (45.8%), Orisa (45.0%) and Sojourn (46.1%) have the lowest Diamond win rates. Kiriko stands out because she is also one of the most-played Supports, so a lot of games are being lost on her.

Does the Overwatch tier list change every season?

Yes, and often mid-season too. Blizzard ships a balance patch at each season launch and usually a mid-season patch plus hotfixes, and the official stats page resets with each patch. Season 5 on October 6 adds Doctrine and moves Sombra to Support, so expect this list to move.

Is the Overwatch tier list different by rank?

Very. Vendetta is the best Damage hero in Gold and Platinum but only A-tier in Grandmaster, Cassidy goes from 45.8% in Diamond to 50.0% in Grandmaster, and ban patterns flip entirely, from Zarya in Gold to Jetpack Cat from Platinum up.

The short version: D.Mon is the best hero in the game even after two nerfs, Vendetta and Pharah split the Damage crown by rank, and Support is close enough that consistency and bans decide the order. Season 5 on October 6 will shake the bottom half, so re-check the patch label before you lock a new main. And if you would rather spend the season playing at the rank you belong in than grinding toward it, our team handles role-based Overwatch climbs to Diamond, Master and beyond on your account.
