LoL gold per minute by rank barely moves, and that is the first thing to know before you compare your number against anyone else’s. Our pull of Facecheck.gg ranked solo/duo data on 28 August 2026, weighted across roughly 48.8 million champion records, puts the average Iron player at 386.9 gold per minute and the average Challenger player at 426.3. That is a 39.4 gold gap across the entire ladder. Now stay inside one tier: a Gold ADC averages 469.7 GPM, a Gold support averages 321.4. Your role swings your gold per minute about four times harder than your rank does.

Which makes “what GPM should I have at my rank” close to the wrong question. You will leave this page with the full per-rank and per-role table, the arithmetic on where League’s gold comes from, a realistic sense of what you can raise and by how much, and two numbers that predict a climb better than GPM ever has.

What counts as a good gold per minute in League

Solo laners live around 400 to 440 GPM, junglers around 430 to 470, ADCs around 455 to 500, and supports around 310 to 325. Those bands hold from Silver all the way up. Inside your role’s band you are normal, and 20 gold under it you are one recall timer and two tower waves away from normal.

Riot publishes no official gold per minute benchmark by tier. There has never been a “Diamond players average X” chart, and the site most people quote for this, League of Graphs, blocks automated access entirely, so anyone printing a per-tier GPM table without naming a source is guessing at you confidently. The question itself is old and still unanswered in public: the r/leagueoflegends thread asking whether GPM maps to rank at all gets the same shrug every time it resurfaces. Our numbers come from two sources we could actually read, both named inline and dated: a live Facecheck.gg pull on 28 August 2026, and an older per-league dataset from LeagueMath.

LoL gold per minute by rank and role

Figures below are match-weighted averages of every champion in each role, from Facecheck.gg’s champion income stats, all regions, ranked Solo/Duo, fetched 28 August 2026 on patch 26.17. Facecheck’s tier filter has no Emerald option and its Platinum bucket carries the largest sample of any tier, which is what you would expect if Emerald players are folded into it, so read the Platinum row as Platinum plus Emerald.

Challenger418.5470.6436.2496.5309.7426.3

Three things in that table matter more than the table itself, and none of them are the number in your row.

An Iron ADC averages 428.9 gold per minute. A Challenger top laner averages 418.5. The Iron player earns more. Nobody thinks the Iron ADC is the better player, which is exactly what a cross-role GPM comparison is worth.

Support gold per minute goes down as rank goes up: 324.4 in Bronze, 309.7 in Challenger, with CS per minute falling from 1.60 to 1.03 alongside it. Better supports take less farm on purpose, because every minion they last hit is one their ADC did not. The job is converting resources into someone else’s power spike, and the stat sheet punishes them for doing it correctly.

Junglers gain most from climbing, +59.5 GPM from Iron to Challenger, on only +1.61 CS per minute. That is about 36.9 gold per extra creep, more than double what any single minion pays out, and the surplus is plates, objectives and kills bought with the tempo the clear created. Top lane runs the opposite exchange rate: +1.91 CS per minute buys +33.2 GPM, or 17.4 gold per creep, almost exactly the value of an average minion. Top laners climb by hitting more minions. Junglers climb by being somewhere at the right time.

The older dataset says the same thing, harder

Long before trackers had rank filters, LeagueMath ran this exact analysis across 415,860 NA ranked solo queue matches. It is patch 5.5, so the absolute numbers are ancient history: turret plating did not exist yet and the economy has inflated since. Use it for the shape rather than the figures.

Solo top laners went from 345.19 GPM in Bronze to 368.92 in Challenger. Junglers, 346.62 to 363.16. Supports, 278.75 in Bronze to 279.46 in Challenger, which is not a trend, it is a flat line with a rounding error taped to it. Eleven years and a rebuilt gold economy later our 2026 pull has the same fingerprint: tiny rank spread, huge role spread, supports flat or falling. When two datasets that far apart disagree on every number and agree on the shape, the shape is the finding.

Where the gold actually comes from

Most of your gold per minute runs on a clock rather than on skill. Per the Riot Wiki gold entry, checked August 2026, every player on Summoner’s Rift generates 20.4 gold every 10 seconds starting at 1:05. That is 122.4 gold per minute for standing still and having a pulse, roughly 30% of a typical solo laner’s income arriving with no input at all. Here is the rest, from the Riot Wiki entries on gold, minions, turrets and champion bounties, all checked August 2026.

Gold sourceValueWho collects it
Passive gold20.4 per 10 seconds from 1:05, so 122.4 per minuteEveryone, automatically
Melee minion20Last hitter
Caster minion14Last hitter
Cannon minion50 to 69, scaling with game timeLast hitter
Standard wave, 3 melee and 3 caster102Split between the laners
Turret plate120 each, 5 per turret, so 600 per outer turret, gone at 14:00Champions standing nearby
First turret of the game300 bonus to the teamWhole team
Outer turret50 globalWhole team
Champion kill300 base at levels 1 to 6, rising to 420 at level 18, plus 100 for first bloodKiller
AssistHalf the kill bounty, capped at 50% of base, split between assistorsAssistors
Support item line18 per minute on World Atlas, 30 on Runic Compass, 54 once fully upgradedSupport only
Baron Nashor150 global plus 100 to the killer, cut from 300 global in patch 26.01Whole team

Notice what is missing from the top of that list. A full kill at level 10 pays about 340 gold. Three minion waves pay more than that and nobody has to hit Flash. That is why the wave management guide is the piece our boosters tell people to read before any of the flashy ones.

Game length moves GPM more than skill does

This is the part that quietly ruins every GPM comparison. The amount of gold physically available per minute is not constant. Waves spawn every 30 seconds until 14:00, every 25 seconds until 30:00, then every 20 seconds. Cannon cadence tightens on a similar schedule, once every three waves early and once every wave from 25:00. Run the Riot Wiki’s average wave values against those spawn rates and you get this.

Game phaseWaves per minuteMinion gold available per lane, per minute
Before 14:002.0about 230 to 237
15:00 to 25:002.4about 292 to 355
After 30:003.0about 411

That is our arithmetic on the Riot Wiki’s stated average gold per wave, not a published figure, but the implication holds: a lane at minute 35 pumps out nearly twice the gold per minute it did at minute 12. A 22 minute stomp and a 38 minute slugfest give the same player playing the same way completely different GPM. Compare your 412 to a table average and you are partly comparing how long your games ran, which no tracker controls for.

If you would rather have the divisions than the spreadsheet, our League of Legends rank boost team runs these climbs on your schedule, in your role, at whatever tempo your account needs. That is the shortcut if you want it.

What actually raises your gold per minute

Ranked by how much return you get for the effort. Bands are our operator read from watching boosters’ income across a lot of accounts, not measured constants, so treat them as direction rather than decimals.

ChangeRough GPM gainEffort
Upgrade the support item on time instead of 4 minutes lateup to +24Trivial
Take the last two minions under your own tower every wave+30 to 40Low
Clear the wave in front of you before recalling+15 to 25Low
Take the nearest jungle camp when your wave is dead and your jungler is elsewhere+20 to 30Low
Two extra turret plates per game240 gold, roughly +8 across a 30 minute gameMedium
Add a full 1 CS per minute+17 to 26 depending on roleMedium
Convert a lane lead into one or two kills you were not already getting+10 to 14High

That top row does more work than it looks like it should. Going from 30 gold per minute to 54 is a 24 GPM swing, more than half the entire Iron to Challenger gap, and it is available to any support who buys the upgrade the moment it unlocks rather than the moment they remember. It is the cheapest 24 gold per minute in the game, and half the Silver support playerbase walks straight past it.

For the two roles where farming is most of the answer, the per-rank targets are broken out properly in our CS per minute by rank breakdown, and junglers should start from the per-camp gold values and clear routes instead of guessing which camp to skip.

Gold share and gold spent beat gold per minute

Two numbers matter more than your GPM and neither one shows up on a tracker’s front page.

Gold share is the fraction of your team’s total gold that went through you. A 470 GPM ADC on a team generating 2,100 took 22% of the income and is roughly where they should be. The same 470 on a team generating 2,400 because everyone snowballed is 19.6%, and that ADC is quietly behind their own team. Share tells you whether you are the win condition. The raw number mostly tells you which game you were in.

Gold sitting on your champion when you die is the most common invisible mistake in solo queue, and there is no public dataset for it, ours included, because no tracker records it. What we do see is boosters inheriting accounts whose owner routinely died with 2,500 to 3,000 unspent gold in the mid game. That is a full item sitting in a pocket. A player at 430 GPM who spends on time is stronger than a player at 460 who dies rich, every time, because gold in the bank does exactly zero damage.

The most memorable version we have tracked was a Platinum 4 mid laner who asked why the account was not climbing at 449 GPM. It was a recall problem. Six games of forced back-on-1,300 instead of hoarding for the perfect two-item spike, and the account cleared Emerald in under a fortnight without the GPM number moving more than a few points. The gold was always there. It was just never on the champion.

Where this data falls apart

Chasing GPM directly will make you a worse League player.

The stat rewards farming safely and punishes most of what wins games. Roaming mid to set up a dive costs a wave and pays nothing. Leaving your side lane on 3 stacked waves to contest Baron vision is correct and a GPM hit. Deep warding is worth zero gold. That is the mechanical reason the support column falls as rank rises, and a support on 305 GPM may well be why their team is winning.

The samples have problems of their own. Facecheck’s figures are match-weighted champion averages, so a tier’s number leans toward whatever champions are popular in that tier. There is no Emerald bucket, so our Platinum row is an inference. Neither source controls for game length, the confounder we just spent a section on. And LeagueMath is patch 5.5, useful for its shape and worthless for its values.

Treat every number here as a reference point for whether you are roughly normal, not as a target. The players who climb fastest are usually not the ones with the best income. They are the ones who spend it soonest.

Frequently asked questions

How much gold per minute is good in LoL?

Judge it by role, not rank. Solo laners are normal around 400 to 440, junglers 430 to 470, ADCs 455 to 500, and supports 310 to 325. Those bands come from our Facecheck.gg pull on 28 August 2026 and they barely shift between Silver and Challenger.

What is the average gold per minute in League of Legends?

About 410 across all roles and all ranks, on our 28 August 2026 Facecheck.gg pull. The range from the Iron average, 386.9, to the Challenger average, 426.3, is under 40 gold per minute, which is why the all-rank average is a surprisingly useful number.

Does gold per minute go up with rank?

Slightly, and not for everyone. Overall it rises about 10% from Iron to Challenger. For supports it goes the other way, falling from 324.4 in Bronze to 309.7 in Challenger, because better supports deliberately take less farm.

Which role has the highest gold per minute in League?

ADC, in every single tier, by a wide margin. A Gold ADC averages 469.7 GPM against 321.4 for a Gold support, a 148 gold gap inside the same lobby. Jungle is second, then mid, then top.

Is 400 gold per minute good?

For a support, outstanding. For a solo laner, slightly below the Gold average of roughly 409 to 416 and completely fine. For an ADC it is low, since even Iron ADCs average 428.9. Same number, three different verdicts, which is the whole point.

Why does Riot not publish gold per minute benchmarks by rank?

Riot has never released a per-tier GPM chart, so every figure you will find, ours included, comes from third-party trackers reading public match data. League of Graphs is the site usually quoted for it and it blocks automated access, which is why so many pages state these numbers without ever naming a source or a date.

So check your role’s band, not the ladder average. Inside it, your income is not the thing holding you back, and the next 20 gold per minute is sitting in the two minions you leave under your tower and the item you keep not buying. Outside it, the fix is almost always earlier recalls and cleaner waves, not more kills.

And if you would rather have the rank than the homework, our League of Legends division climb covers placements, solo queue and duo queue across every tier, in your role, at your pace.
