League of Legends sells skins in six store tiers, and four more tiers sit outside the store entirely. The store ladder runs from 520 RP Timeworn skins up to 3,250 RP Ultimates. Above it sit Mythic and Prestige skins paid for in Mythic Essence, Exalted skins that only drop from the Sanctum gacha, and Transcendent skins sold once a year in Hall of Legends bundles. In real money that spans roughly $4 to well over $400. This page lists every LoL skin tier with its RP price, a dollar figure at a stated bundle rate, how you get it and how many exist, plus the Sanctum odds most guides never work out.

Everything here was checked on patch 26.19, last checked September 2026. Dollar figures use Riot’s North America RP bundles; other regions price differently.

Every LoL skin tier and what it costs

Price follows how much work went into the skin, and rarity barely enters into it. A 1,350 RP Epic gets a new model, new textures and new effects. A 3,250 RP Ultimate gets evolving forms and new voice work. An Exalted gets all of that behind a gacha. The table has the whole ladder, with dollar figures at the $99.99 bundle rate (13,500 RP, about 0.74 cents per RP), which is the best rate most players will ever buy at.

Tier definitions and store prices come from the League of Legends Wiki’s skin price table, last checked September 2026. Two footnotes. Gun Goddess Miss Fortune is the only Ultimate that costs less than 3,250 RP. And Mythic, Prestige, Ultimate and Exalted skins sit outside the weekly sale rotation, so don’t hold out for a discount on one of those.

What RP actually costs in dollars

What a skin really costs you depends on which RP bundle you buy, and the spread is about 17%. Riot gives bonus RP on bigger bundles, so the same 1,350 RP Epic costs you $10.00 at the $99.99 rate and $11.72 at the $4.99 rate. The full North America list, as it stands on the wiki’s RP bundle list, last checked September 2026:

$429.9960,200140The 2026 Signature Hall of Legends collection (reported 58,865 RP)

Look at the $244.99 row. The two biggest bundles line up almost perfectly with the two most expensive things in the client, and we will let you draw your own conclusions about that. The $4.99 pack is the worst rate on the list, which is a fun fact for anyone who has bought eight of them “just this once.”

How many LoL skins exist, by tier

The wiki counts 1,953 skins in League, and half of them are Epics. The count comes from the Champion skin price table, which the wiki builds automatically from its skin database, last checked September 2026. The number moves every patch; 26.19 alone added four.

Battle Pass291.5%
3,250 RP and 2,775 RP (Ultimate)70.4%

Look at the Ultimate row. Riot has shipped seven Ultimates in 14 years (Pulsefire Ezreal in 2012, most recently Soul Fighter Samira in 2023), and then five Exalteds in the 21 months after the Sanctum opened. The top of the ladder moved behind the gacha.

Exalted skins and the Sanctum: the real math

An Exalted skin costs 32,000 RP if you are unlucky, and about two players in three are. The Sanctum sells Ancient Sparks for 400 RP each. Every spark has a 0.5% chance to drop the S-tier prize, and the Exalted banner guarantees it on the 80th spark. Mythic Variant banners guarantee on the 40th. Those rules are straight from Riot’s own Sanctum support page, last checked September 2026, which also confirms that pity progress carries over between rotations but not between the two banners.

Most guides stop at “80 sparks.” Do the odds: at 0.5% a spark, your chance of getting the skin before pity is 1 minus 0.995 to the 79th power, which is about 32.7%. So roughly two players in three pay the full 80 sparks. The average cost, counting the lucky third, lands at about 66 sparks, or 26,400 RP, which is around $196 at the $99.99 rate. The guaranteed ceiling is 32,000 RP, about $237. The community ran the same numbers on the 40-spark banner in the r/leagueoflegends thread doing the math on Quantum Galaxy Slayer Zed, and landed in the same place. Plan for pity and treat anything earlier as a gift.

Exalted skinSanctum debutGuaranteed cost
Arcane Fractured JinxDecember 202480 sparks / 32,000 RP
Radiant Serpent SettJanuary 202580 sparks / 32,000 RP

Spirit Blossom MorganaJune 202580 sparks / 32,000 RP
Revenant Reign ViegoJanuary 202680 sparks / 32,000 RP

You do get something on the other 99.5% of rolls. A-tier prizes (chromas, emotes and similar) drop 10% of the time and are guaranteed within 10 sparks, and the B-tier pool is mostly icons, emotes and small piles of Mythic Essence. There is also a daily cap of 250 sparks (100,000 RP), which exists because someone clearly needed it.

Mythic Essence: the currency you cannot buy

Mythic and Prestige skins have no RP price, on purpose. You spend Mythic Essence (ME) in the Mythic Shop: 125 ME for a Mythic skin, 150 ME for a Prestige skin, 35 ME for a Mythic chroma, 250 ME for a Nexus Finisher. The shop rotates every two weeks, so the skin you want is either there or it is not.

Getting ME is the awkward part. The wiki lists the Sanctum as the main source, with smaller trickles from the paid Battle Pass track (25 ME), event passes (the Hall of Legends 2026 pass includes 125 ME), and Hextech Chests, which have a 3.6% chance to drop 10 ME. So for a lot of players the honest answer to “how much is a Prestige skin?” is one event pass plus a few weeks of luck, or a pile of Sanctum sparks. Riot has never put a dollar figure on ME, so we won’t make one up.

The skins you cannot buy at all

The most exclusive tier in the game costs nothing: the Victorious skin. Each ranked season Riot hands a Victorious skin to every player who banks 15 ranked wins and holds Honor 3 when the season closes. It is never sold, never re-released, and the chromas and border on top of it scale with the highest tier you reached that season. We have covered how the Season 3 Victorious skin works in full.

Here effort counts for more than a credit card, which is why accounts that come through our queue with old Victorious skins get more champ-select respect than any Exalted. If you want the higher-tier chromas and the better border but the season is running out on you, our League of Legends rank boost team runs division climbs inside the season window on your schedule, with self-play and duo options if you would rather be in the games yourself.

Legacy skins are the other can’t-buy category: beta rewards, convention codes and early store skins that were pulled and never returned. Black Alistar is the usual example. We keep that list in our breakdown of the rarest LoL skins.

Transcendent and the Hall of Legends tier

Transcendent is the most expensive tier in League, and it only shows up during Hall of Legends. The wiki defines it as reserved for real-life events: Ultimate-level features plus unique gameplay touches. There are three so far: Immortalized Legend Ahri for Faker in 2024, Immortalized Legend Kai’Sa for Uzi in 2025, and Immortalized Legend Tristana for Caps, which went live on September 10, 2026 with patch 26.18.

Riot sells these as collections, not single skins. For the 2026 event, esports press reported three tiers: a Risen Legend collection at 5,035 RP (about $37), the Immortalized Legend collection at 32,035 RP (about $237), and the Signature collection at 58,865 RP (about $436), which adds Caps’ signature move and extra chromas. Riot’s patch notes confirm the collections and the September 10 date but do not print the prices, so treat those as reported. For how this stacks up against every other big-ticket cosmetic, we ranked the most expensive LoL skins ever sold.

Which tier is actually worth your RP

Legendary is the best value per RP in the game by a wide margin. An Epic at 1,350 RP gets you a new model and effects. A Legendary at 1,820 RP, about $3.50 more, adds new animations, new voice work and usually a new recall, and that is where most of the “this feels like a different champion” effect comes from. An Ultimate adds forms or evolution for another $10.60, which is great on a champion you play every day and wasted on one you play twice a season.

Our take: buy Legendaries for champions you main, one Ultimate if you are a genuine one-trick of an Ultimate champion, and set a hard number before you ever open the Sanctum. An Exalted is roughly eight Ultimates of money for one skin. That can be a fine purchase if you make it with the average and the ceiling in front of you. Budgeting for the 0.5% dream is how people end up at spark 80 annoyed.

Where this breakdown falls short

This breakdown has limits. Every dollar figure assumes North America pricing and the $99.99 bundle; buy in $4.99 packs or in another region and your numbers shift by up to 17% or more. The Hall of Legends collection prices are press-reported, not Riot-published, and those collections are sold for a limited window, so they may not be buyable by the time you read this. And the tier-feature table is a general rule, not a law: some Epics outclass older Legendaries, and a 2012 Ultimate like Pulsefire Ezreal does not look like a 2023 one. Judge the skin in the preview before you trust the tier label.

Frequently asked questions

What are the skin tiers in League of Legends?

From cheapest up: Timeworn (520 RP), Budget (750), Standard (975), Epic (1,350), Legendary (1,820) and Ultimate (3,250), all sold in the store. Mythic and Prestige skins cost Mythic Essence, Exalted skins only drop from the Sanctum, and Transcendent skins come in Hall of Legends collections.

How much is an Ultimate skin in real money?

3,250 RP, about $24 at the $99.99 bundle rate or about $28 if you buy RP in $4.99 packs. Gun Goddess Miss Fortune is the exception at 2,775 RP.

How much does an Exalted skin cost?

The guaranteed cost is 80 Ancient Sparks at 400 RP each, so 32,000 RP or about $237 at the $99.99 rate. The average is about 66 sparks (around $196), because the 0.5% drop can land early, but roughly two in three players go all the way to pity.

How do you get Mythic Essence in LoL?

Mostly from Sanctum rolls, plus 25 ME on a paid Battle Pass track, event passes like the Hall of Legends pass (125 ME), and a 3.6% chance of 10 ME from Hextech Chests. You cannot buy Mythic Essence directly with RP.

How many skins are in League of Legends?

1,953 by the League of Legends Wiki’s price table, last checked September 2026. Epics at 1,350 RP account for 983 of them, just over half.

Do Ultimate or Exalted skins ever go on sale?

No. Mythic, Ultimate, Prestige and Exalted skins sit outside the weekly sale rotation, so the price you see is the price.

Store skins run 520 to 3,250 RP, Mythic and Prestige live on Mythic Essence, Exalted skins average about $196 and cap at $237 through the Sanctum, and Transcendent collections top out north of $400. The Victorious skin costs nothing and is the only one that shows you actually played the season. If you want the best chromas and border on it, our team can run your division climb before the season closes, on your account and your schedule.
