The best blind pick supports in LoL right now are Leona, Thresh, Braum and Janna, with Nami and Seraphine close behind. We did not pick them on vibes. Across patch 26.20 Emerald+ games on Lolalytics, none of the four has a single support matchup with 500+ games where it wins less than 48% of the time, and all four sit above a 52.9% overall win rate. That is the whole definition of a safe blind pick: no lane you dread, a win rate that barely moves whoever shows up across from you, and a build you can bend after you see the enemy bot lane. Below you get the matchup-spread table, the enchanter / engage / mage split, how the ADC pick changes the math, the supports you should never lock first, and where in draft a blind support actually happens.

This is the support-only deep dive. If you want one safe pick per lane in a single page, our best blind pick champions for every lane covers the whole draft. Here we stay in the bot lane and go much further into the numbers.

How we measured “blind-safe” for supports

Our take: a blind pick support is defined by its worst matchups, not its best one. A champion with a 54% overall win rate that collapses to 44% into one specific support is a counter-pick, because the enemy can simply pick that support. So we pulled every support-versus-support matchup from Lolalytics’ Emerald+ support tier list for patch 26.20, the last full patch of data (last checked October 2026), and ranked 33 supports on three things:

  • Hard counters: how many matchups with at least 500 games sit below a 48% win rate.
  • Worst matchup: the floor, the single lane you least want to see.
  • Spread: how far the matchup win rates swing around the champion’s average.

Lolalytics rates each player at their own tier, so the Emerald+ average win rate on this patch is 51.71%, not 50%. A support at 50% overall is below the bracket average, and a 48% matchup is almost 4 points under par. Riot does not publish matchup data, so every figure here is our read of Lolalytics and nothing official.

Patch context

Patch 26.21 went live on October 21, and the next patch, 26.22, is scheduled for November 4. The official patch 26.21 notes touch very few supports on Summoner’s Rift: Karma gets damage and Mantra heal buffs, Zyra’s seed recharge gets faster, Vel’Koz’s passive hits harder, and Taric can now cast on untargetable allies. Leona, Thresh, Braum, Janna, Nami and Seraphine are untouched, so the 26.20 matchup spread should carry over. Karma is the one to watch, because she lands in our “never blind” list below and the buff may move her out of it.

Best blind pick supports: the matchup-spread table

17 of the 33 supports we checked have zero matchups under 48%, so the filter that separates them is win rate and sample. These are the ten best of that group, and the top four also lead the win-rate chart. Figures are Lolalytics Emerald+, patch 26.20, support versus support, matchups with 500+ games only, last checked October 2026.

Two of those come with a catch. Thresh has a 12.55% ban rate and Blitzcrank (also zero sub-48 matchups, 53.24%) sits at 14.48%, so neither is guaranteed to reach you. That is why the order below starts with Leona.

The six best blind pick supports, one by one

Leona: the safest engage blind

Leona has the highest overall win rate of any meta support on our pull (53.76%), and her worst matchup is a coin flip, Janna at 49.81%. E into Q does not care who the enemy support is. You do not have to land a long hook over a minion wave, and Eclipse soaks enough damage that poke supports struggle to zone you level 2. Her real weak spot is the enemy bot laner, not the enemy support: into Nilah she drops to 45.89% and into bot-lane Veigar to 46.84%. Who should not play her: anyone whose ADC is a hyper-scaling champion that wants to farm until 2 items. Leona wants to fight at level 2 and keep fighting.

Thresh: the flexible one, if he survives bans

Thresh is the most picked support in Emerald+ at 15.59% and his three worst matchups all sit at or above 49.76%. He is blind-safe because his kit covers both directions: if the enemy engages, flay and lantern cancel it; if they are passive, hook and box punish them. The cost is execution. Thresh’s floor drops hard for players without reps on him, and that is invisible in an Emerald+ average. If he is your blind pick, he needs to already be your champion.

Braum: the anti-poke, anti-hook wall

Braum’s worst support matchup is Zilean at 48.58%, and against bot lanes he is even more comfortable: 56.96% into Draven and 59.90% into Ezreal. Unbreakable eats Lux bindings, Xerath ults and every hook in the game, so he is the safest pick when you do not know whether the enemy will poke or catch. The one bot-lane matchup to fear is a mage: bot-lane Viktor drags him to 46.51%. If your enemy bot lane has already shown a mage, hold Braum.

Janna: the enchanter with no bad lanes

Janna and Sona are the only enchanters we checked with no sub-48 matchup against supports or against enemy bot laners at 1,000+ games, and Janna has the much bigger sample. Her worst bot-lane matchup is bot Hwei at 48.10%. She is the blind-pick enchanter because Howling Gale and Monsoon answer every engage support in the game, and her shield wins the poke war on the side. Who should not play her: players who will never use Q defensively. Janna who only shields is a 50% champion with extra steps.

Nami: the enchanter who still wins lane

Nami’s floor sits at 48.55% (Amumu support, a small 830-game sample) and her main-stream worst is Blitzcrank at 49.39%. She wins trades with E-empowered autos and has two hard CC tools, so she can play aggressive with a lane bully or peel for a scaling ADC. Against bot-lane mages she is weaker, 47.70% into Hwei, so she shares Janna’s blind-spot, just a little deeper.

Seraphine: the mage blind with a lane-proof floor

Seraphine’s worst support matchup is Sona at 48.43%, and every other lane she faces is 50% or better. She has range to poke, W to undo an enemy all-in, and an R that turns an engage around from a screen away. She also scales into a teamfight carry if the lane goes even. Into bot-lane Yasuo she drops to 47.43%, because his windwall eats her entire kit.

Enchanter, engage or mage: which class to blind

The class matters more than the champion when you pick blind. Each one fails in a predictable way, and knowing the failure tells you which to lock.

ClassSafest blindsWhat beats themWorst real matchups (Emerald+, 26.20)When to blind it
EngageLeona, Thresh, RellDisengage enchanters, bot-lane mages that zone from rangeLeona vs Nilah 45.89, Thresh vs bot Swain 46.01Your ADC is a lane bully or not picked yet
WardenBraumLong-range mages that never step into passive rangeBraum vs bot Viktor 46.51The enemy team has hooks or heavy dive
EnchanterJanna, NamiEngage that commits before you can shieldNami vs bot Hwei 47.70, Janna vs bot Hwei 48.10Your ADC scales, or you need a safe answer to any engage
MageSeraphine, Lux, Vel’KozHooks and all-in engage that close the range gapLux vs Blitzcrank 48.52, Seraphine vs bot Yasuo 47.43The enemy support is already locked as an enchanter

Enchanters are the safest class to blind on average, which surprises people who think “blind pick” means “tank”. The reason is that every enchanter in the safe list carries hard disengage (Janna’s Q and R, Nami’s Q), so the matchup that should beat them, a hard engage, still has to get through two crowd-control tools.

How the ADC pick changes everything

Most blind-pick lists skip this: a support is never fully blind, because the bot lane is two-versus-two, and both ADCs change the answer.

Start with your own ADC. If your ADC locks before you, you are not blind on your own side, and that should decide the class. A lane bully (Draven, Lucian, Samira, Kalista) wants an engage support to cash in level-2 and level-3 all-ins, so Leona or Rell. A scaling ADC (Jinx, Zeri, Kog’Maw, Smolder) wants an enchanter, so Janna, Nami or Seraphine. If your ADC has not picked yet, Thresh and Braum are the flex answers that work with both.

The enemy ADC is the matchup that actually hurts blind supports on this patch. Bot-lane mages are common enough to show up in 1,000+ game samples, and they are the main reason several popular supports fail our test. Figures below are support versus the enemy bot laner, Lolalytics Emerald+, patch 26.20, 1,000+ games.

YuumiYasuo 42.77, Tristana 44.91, Viktor 45.57Ezreal 56.386

Ezreal is every support’s favorite opponent, which says more about Ezreal in this bracket than about the supports. And Nautilus into Xayah at 46.02% is not a small-sample fluke: it comes from 10,232 games. Xayah’s R makes her untargetable through the hook-and-knock-up combo, and that one interaction does a lot of damage to his blind-pick case.

Never blind these supports

Several of the most-picked supports in Emerald+ have the widest matchup spreads, which makes them excellent counter-picks and poor first picks.

Xerath51.18%4Sona 44.67, Rell 47.40Immobile; once a Rell or hook closes the gap he is gone

Nautilus deserves a word, because our own pillar lists him as the safest support blind. His kit is still blind-friendly in the sense that he can play into anything, and you will rarely get stomped in lane. The 26.20 numbers just show seven matchups under 48%, mostly engage tanks, Renata Glasc and Taric (whose 2,260-game sample at 43.58% is no fluke, since Taric’s stun and invulnerability flip every Nautilus all-in). He is fine to blind, but on this patch Leona does the same job with a higher floor.

Where a blind support actually happens in draft

Pick order in solo queue comes from your lobby slot, not your role, so a support can pick anywhere from first to last. Being blind is a draft-position problem, and trading picks with a teammate often solves it better than any champion. The full pick order is in our draft phase guide; this is the support-specific version.

  • You pick before the enemy support and your ADC: you are fully blind, so take Thresh or Braum, because both fit any ADC.
  • Your ADC is locked and the enemy support is not: you are half-blind. Match your ADC’s lane plan: Leona or Rell with a bully, Janna or Nami with a scaler.
  • The enemy bot laner is shown but their support is not: check for a mage bot laner first. If you see Swain, Veigar, Hwei or Viktor, skip the hook supports and go Janna or Senna.
  • You pick last in the bot lane: you are not blind at all. Counter-pick, using our support tier list to sanity-check the options.

One habit we see on the ranked support climbs we run: the cleanest blind-pick support games are the ones where the support hovers a flex champion early, waits, and only locks after the enemy bot laner is visible. A hovered Thresh keeps every option open and tells your team nothing they can misread.

What this data gets wrong

This method has real weak points. First, a support-versus-support win rate is a whole-game number. It includes the ADCs, the jungler and everything after laning, so a matchup that looks fine at 49% can still feel miserable for 14 minutes. Second, Emerald+ hides skill floors: Thresh’s 53.56% belongs to players who already have hundreds of games on him. Third, the data is from patch 26.20; the 26.21 Karma, Zyra and Vel’Koz buffs will only show up after a few days of games. And finally, small-sample matchups, like Nami vs support Amumu at 830 games, move a lot between patches. That is why we excluded anything under 500 games and still treat the bottom of each range with caution. The r/summonerschool thread on which role’s counter-picks matter most makes the same point from the other side: support counters matter less than top or mid counters, so a sensible blind costs you less here than in any solo lane.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best blind pick support in LoL?

Leona on the current patch. Her worst support matchup is Janna at 49.81% and her overall win rate is 53.76% in Lolalytics Emerald+ data (patch 26.20, checked October 2026). Thresh and Braum are equally safe if Leona is banned or does not fit your ADC.

Is an enchanter or a tank safer to blind pick as support?

On this patch, the safest enchanters (Janna, Nami) are as safe as the safest tanks (Leona, Braum). The difference is the failure: enchanters lose to bot-lane mages, engage tanks lose to disengage and to Xayah or Nilah.

Is Nautilus a good blind pick support?

Playable, but not the safest. He has seven support matchups under 48% at 500+ games, including Taric at 43.58%, and he drops to 46.02% into Xayah over 10,232 games.

Should I blind pick Yuumi?

No. Yuumi has 14 support matchups under 48% and a 49.38% overall win rate in Emerald+. She is a counter-pick for a specific scaling ADC, never a first pick.

Does the ADC pick matter for a blind support?

Yes, more than the enemy support in many games. Lock engage with a lane-bully ADC, an enchanter with a scaling ADC, and avoid hook supports once you see a bot-lane mage like Swain or Veigar.

When should a support counter-pick instead of blind picking?

Whenever the enemy support or bot laner is already visible. A blind pick is a fallback for picking first, not a reason to ignore information you have.

Blind Leona, Thresh or Braum when you know nothing, Janna or Nami when your ADC wants to scale, and leave Yuumi, Nautilus and Pyke for the picks where you can see the enemy. Re-check the numbers after a week of 26.21 games, because the Karma buff is the one change likely to move the list.
